Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab Ameer and MPA Dr Syed Wasim Akhtar has said that the party workers should continue serving the people irrespective of the fact that who voted or not to JI candidates in May 11 general polls.

While addressing the party workers convention in Jamia Masjid Burhan here on Saturday, he said they should also make them prepared for the upcoming local body elections.

He also condemned the latest US drone strike in the country’s tribal belt.  “The drone attack is not only a violation of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, but also an action that has been declared as a violation of international law and the UN Charter,” the JI leader pointed out.

He said that the government would have to change its policies while bringing peace in the tribal areas.

“Today all the schools are closed in the Waziristan. What would be the future of children of these areas,” he questioned. He said that it had been nine years that the future of these youngsters was at stake. He demanded the government to come out of the war on terror and bring peace to tribal areas.

JI District Ameer Maulana Abdul Malik, Tehsil Ameer Sanaullah Mufti, Dr Maqbool Ahmad and Dr Zahid Sattar also addressed the convention.

POLICE ARREST 28 PEOPLE OF TWO RIVAL GROUPS: The Rajana Police arrested 28 people of two groups headed by Rana Ibadat Ali and Rana Sajjad Ahmad here on Saturday.

Both groups had political enmity since May 11 general election and they resorted to aerial firing over the enmity. Rajana Police SHO Saeed Akhtar and DSP Rana Muhammad Ashraf visited the village and arrested 14 people from each group including their heads and registered case against them under Section 16 of MPO to maintain peace in the village.

The police also recovered illicit arms from the custody of few men of both the groups. It is to be mentioned that Rana Ibadat Group had supported the PTI while Rana Sajjad Group had voted for the PML-N candidates.

DBA OBSERVES STRIKE: The members of District Bar Association observed strike after 11am to show solidarity with lawyers of Faisalabad here on Saturday. The Faisalabad Division lawyers’ community have demanding the establishment of the Lahore High Court Bench at Faisalabad.
