Imran’s letter to Mulk ‘ploy’ to hide KP failures

LAHORE - The PML-N has taken a serious notice of PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s letter written to the caretaker prime minister, asking him to take the nation into confidence over the current electricity crisis in the country, the outgoing government’s claims of ending the loadshedding and the circular debts.

PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurengzeb, in a media interaction here yesterday, asked Imran Khan not to use the caretaker setup for his ‘nefarious political interests.’ “The caretaker government is meant to hold elections remaining neutral, so it must not fulfil the demand of any political party,” she said, adding the PML-N governments at the federal and Punjab level added 5,000mw electricity to the national grid, which is available to the people throughout the country. She said Imran Khan had promised in 2013 to completely end energy crisis by setting up electricity generation plants, so now he should account for his promises and tell the nation why he failed to provide electricity to the people.

Marriyum Aurengzeb said the PTI has miserably failed to deliver in KP and the current letter is a ploy to cover up the failure of his party government and cheat the people. She said Imran Khan has got frustrated after having seen so much development made by the PML-N government in the country.

She said the performance of the PTI could be gauged from the fact that today the whole Peshawar is seen dug as the outgoing KP government tried to carry out a metro bus project like those of Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi completed by the Shehbaz Sharif government in the Punjab. She stated Imran failed to generate a single unit in KP and set up a single university and hospital in the province. Imran must also let the nation know about the five-year performance of the KP government, she concluded.

IMRAN’S LETTER TO CARETAKER PM

INP adds: Amid return of extended hours of loadshedding after completion of five years of the PML-N government, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Friday wrote to interim Prime Minister Justice (Retd) Nasirul Mulk to take the people into confidence by informing them about the actual situation of power crisis and chronic circular debt.

In a series of tweets, the PTI chief said that the people would like to know the veracity of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s statement that his party left with surplus electricity in the system and that any power failures would be the caretaker government’s responsibility.

He said: “As the country confronts spiraling power & water crisis alongside a heat wave, I have written a letter to the caretaker PM to take nation into confidence & inform them of the correct picture of the acute power crisis & status of the Rs 500 billion circular debt left by the PML-N govt.”

In another tweet, he said: “The long-suffering public has a right know whether the promises & claims by the PML-N govt of having ended loadshedding were nothing but a pack of lies. Ppl would also like to know the veracity of Sharif’s statement that any power failures now would be caretaker govt’s fault.”

“I have pointed out to CT [caretaker] PM that it is his govt’s responsibility to take nation into confidence & inform them who is responsible for this sorry state of affairs in power sector; & is there any semblance of “good governance” that the PML-N govt boasted about ad nauseum?.”
