LAHORE (APP) - Two Aitcheson College students Tuesday launched an NGO 'The Independent Living Foundation with a motto, From Disability to Employment, to help the disabled and less privileged class to lives as active members of the society. Speaking at the launching ceremony at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the NGOs Founder Bilal Mazhar Chaudhry and Co-Founder Furqan Zafar said that according to World Health Organization (WHO) report, 10 percent population of developing countries constitute of disabled persons. While, more than 3.5 million people in Pakistan were suffering from different kinds of disability. They said the Foundation was an effort by Pakistani youth for the betterment of less fortunate in our society and a large number of students from various education institutions, philanthropists and the city elite have assured them of their full support for this noble cause. They said the NGO would help the poor students in getting free of cost education, adding, the Living Foundation has also joined hands with a number of hospitals for free-of-cost treatment of the people recommended by them to ameliorate the sufferings of the disabled and poor people. They also urged the government to provide jobs to the disabled persons as per their prescribed quota.
