KARACHI - Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) central General Secretary Liaquat Baloch has said that in order to restore confidence of Baloch youths and their leadership, it is inevitable to hold a national-level Jirga immediately.

The kidnapped Baloch people should be recovered and former dictator Prevez Musharraf should be tried in the court and the ongoing military operations should at once be ended.

He was addressing a seminar here on Thursday at Idara-e Noor-e Haq on the issue of situation in Balochistan under the banner of ‘The Issue of Balochistan and Our National Responsibility’.

Baloch said that unfriendly and anti-social policies of the present government had pushed Balochistan to wall and uprising had reached its apex there. The military and civil establishment should change their stances regarding Balochistan, Malakand and federally administered tribal areas (FATA), he added.

The people of Balochistan especially the youth were quite furious and the ongoing policies had poured fuel on the current situation in the province, said Baloch adding that the situation in Balochistan could not be controlled while sitting in luxurious palaces of Islamabad, which was manifested in absence of all party conference that the prime minister had summoned.

He said that in order to restore peace and tranquillity in Balochistan, the native people should be given their rights and ownership over natural resources should be acknowledged.

Former federal minister Ghulam Akbar Lasi, intellectual Iqbal Baloch, JI Karachi chapter Ameer Muhammad Hussain Mahenti, Naeb Ameer hafiz NaeemUr Rehman and other prominent leaders of JI also addressed. JI Sindh chapter Deputy General Secretary Dr MerajUl Huda Siddiqui and JI Karachi General Secretary Naseem Siddiqui were also present there.
