ISLAMABAD  - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan wants to improve relations with the US based on mutual respect and interest.

In an interview with ABC News‚ he said that US is an important country and Islamabad does not want to spoil its relations with it.  About drone attacks‚ he said we consider these attacks against sovereignty of Pakistan and this matter has been raised with the US authorities.  Gilani said that Parliamentary Committee on National Security has prepared recommendations for new terms of engagement with the US and NATO. About relations with Afghanistan, he said both the countries have suffered a lot in war against terrorism and they should work together to fight the common enemy.

He said Afghanistan’s stability is vital for Pakistan’s stability.

We are part of solution and not part of problem, he added. The Prime Minister said political reconciliation is the only answer for stability in both Pakistan and Afghanistan because military action does not offer permanent solution to any problem.
