ISLAMAAD - Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) on Thursday said it is planning to bring in international coaches to promote the game at grass-root level.

"Our objective is to promote judo from grass-root level, so we are also planning to bring in coaches having international repute so that our youngsters can hone their skills," PJF official said.

He said that PJF in collaboration with Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) is organising junior judo training camp from March 10 at Qayyum Stadium, Peshawar.

"This is an initial step taken for the preparation and selection of 26th Olympics Games at Brazil in 2016," he said. He said that it will be 60-days special training camp for young judokas. After the camp, judokas will be selected and sent for advanced training. The PJF will also send teams to different areas-level judo meets under various age categories.

He said that judokas from the federation are doing well at National and International levels in recent years. "These camps will be organised in different areas of Pakistan including Lahore, Karachi and Quetta and the PJF will also distribute the kits among the players."

He said that from this camp, the selected young Judokas will be able to participate in the Youth Provincial Tournaments and from there further selection will be made for participation in the National and International Judo Championships.

"The selected Judokas also have a chance to approach for the selection of next Olympic Games at Brazil -2016 and we are also grateful to PSB for assisting us in organising the training camp," he concluded.
