NANAKANA SAHIB - As many as six students allegedly tortured a deputy superintendent of an examination centre for not allowing them to cheat during the exams.
Zahoor Ellahi was placed as deputy superintendent at the examination centre set up at the Government Guru Nanak High School. He was requested by Piddi Pur High School Headmaster Khalid Bashir to allow a student to cheat during the exams. But, he did not oblige. On the day of the incident, Ellahi and his friend, after getting free from the examination centre, were heading to their places in Warbuton on a car, when a group of six students, riding on motorcycles, intercepted their vehicle near Khadanwala village. The students allegedly tortured the deputy superintendent.
After the incident, the Nanakana Sahib Teachers’ Association held a protest at the DHQ Hospital demanding immediate arrest of the accused students. They also threatened to close down the examination centre, if the accused were not arrested. Police are investigating.
