HAFIZABAD - A thief was caught red-handed stealing from mosque while a car was driven off by unidentified bandits in separate incidents here the other night.
As per reports, the villagers overpowered a thief, identified as M Iqbal, in Sanbhal village. They partially shaved off his head, moustaches and eye-brow and paraded him in the village’s streets with blackened face on a donkey-cart. The villagers also put a shoes necklace around his nick. However, the Sukheke Police rushed to the village and took the thief into custody. A case was registered a case against Zakaullah and nine others, who managed to escape from the scene.
Meanwhile, some unidentified thieves whisked away the car of one Malik Khalid from outside his residence near Ali Chowk Bypass. The police registered a case. According to the owner, he parked his car MLO-5405 outside his residence but found the vehicle missing in the morning.
Walk marks women’s day: International Women’s Day was observed jointly by the Gender Support Union, Social Welfare Department, Aurat Foundation and an NGO Sanghat here on Thursday. In this connection, a walk was organised which was led by Gender Specialist M Arshad, District Darul Aman Superintendent Sana Javed, Sangat Coordination Shazia Nazar, EDO Edu Dr Iqbal Naeem, EDO Health Dr M Aslam and Aurat Foundation & other NGOs workers, to create awareness among the women regarding equality and empowerment of the women.

Later, a seminar was also arranged at Jinnah Hall wherein the speakers stressed the need for empowerment of women and gender equality. .
