Anti-polio drive from March 14 in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: A five-day polio eradication drive will start in district Rawalpindi from March 14.
Health officials said that all preparations have been made as1,850 mobile teams have been set up to give polio drops to 811,789 children aged five and below five. Polio teams will perform their duties at 270 designated points. Medical teams have been formed to cover 112 union councils. The health officials said that 371 area incharges have also been appointed to make the campaign a success.
Meanwhile, presiding over a meeting to review arrangements for the drive, Rawalpindi DCO Sajid Zafar Dall said that it should also be ensured that elected local representatives were taken on board during the drive.
He also said that security arrangements have been made for polio teams. The DCO said that strict action will be taken against parents who would refuse to vaccinate their children.
