Peshawar - A young man, hailing from Bannu district, was shot dead by two policemen of a rider squad in the limits of Faqirabad Police Station in the early hours of Monday.
Bashir Ahmad and another friend Haris left the Khyber Super Market Sunday night to have a cup of tea in the city at around 12 midnight.
However, as Bashir Ahmad came out of the vehicle near the City Railway Station, someone opened fire on him. One his friends later told police that they also came out and found Bashir having sustained bullet injury. He said they saw two men in police uniforms who told them to take the wounded man to the hospital in the car. However, Bashir died at the hospital.
SP City Attiq Shah told media that the two cops, identified as Rooh Ullah and Rustam, were arrested and the case was being investigated further.
Meanwhile, the students of the University of Peshawar and other institutions on Monday staged protest against the killing of Bashir Ahmad. They blocked the main Jamrud road and demanded FIR against those involved in the killing.
