Pakistan's Javeria Khan recorded the best bowling performance in Women's Asia Cup by taking six for eight in 8.1 overs against Bangladesh at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Thursday (May 8). The right arm off-break bowler from Karachi was unable to take a wicket for 36 runs in 10 overs in the only limited overs international match played against Sri Lanka at Welagedara Stadium Kurunegala, on May 6. The former Indian skipper, Mamatha Maben, who took six wickets for 10 runs in 6.2 overs against Sri Lanka at Kandy on April 25,2004 held the previous record of best bowling performance in Women's Asia Cup. The previous record of best bowling performance for Pakistan in Asia Cup was held by Qanita Jalil who claimed five wickets for 62 runs against India at Jaipur on December 13,2006. Javeria Khan's fine bowling helped Pakistan win their first match in Women's Asia Cup. Pakistan's first victory in this competition came in the 13th match. Pakistani women lost the match by four wickets when the two teams met first time in this Asia Cup at Welagedara Stadium, Kurunegala, on May 3. Bangladeshi women are participating in the Asia Cup for the first time. They qualified for the Asia Cup after winning the Asian Cricket Council tournament in Malaysia last August. That was their first tournament .
