Genuine demand

The entire nation is still in a state of shock at how the American Navy Seals penetrated as deep as in Abbottabad and got away with the highest valued target Osama bin Laden. Those responsible for this serious lapse owe an answer to the people of Pakistan. So far what has been witnessed or heard is not good enough to justify the act of the Americans. Questions are being asked at all levels in society whether it was an intelligence failure or an act of comprehensive incompetence that has caused national shame. If the CIA could track Osama, why couldnt the ISI catch him residing in a compound in Abbottabad? On the other hand, what is the stance of the ruling elite, the President and the Prime Minister? What the President wrote in his article appearing in the Washington Post was an attempt to hoodwink the world. The response of Prime Minister Gilani, who preferred to board the plane for French 'yatra, stopped short of claiming it to be a historic event suggesting that the nation should celebrate it. Both the remarks had no relevance to the ground realities. It is because of this total indifference and apathy that the demand for their resignations is picking up momentum. Ch Nisar Ali took the floor of the National Assembly and held both the President and the Prime Minister responsible and demanded that they quit their offices. His position has been supported by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Similarly Tehrik-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan also demanded their resignations holding them responsible for the embarrassment caused by the CIA-Led Operation. But what is worst is that PPP leader and former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi bitterly criticised the federal government at a press conference, and held both the President and the Prime Minister responsible for the shameful events that led to killing Osama. All said and done, the Trioka has yet to give a national response that could ease tension that has gripped the entire nation. Sooner it is done, the better.
