With the announcement of Osma's death by US President Obama, many controversies have cropped up, the most frustrating that embarrassing was the attitude of our certain clerics, who portrayed Osamas death as martyrdom. It means that 34000 killings of Pakistanis in countless bomb blasts, most of which were done at the behest of Al-Qaeda, or through its external wings (local Taliban supported by Al-Qaeda) were, therefore, in order, if we take Osama as the leader of Mujahideen. This gross misconception needs to be corrected. We have to draw a line between terrorism and holy war. Promoting terrorism is an unholy war and must be condemned by religious leaders from the forefront. Sadly, what we see is totally different; funeral prayers are being offered around the country for Osama, giving an impression as if the dead man was a saviour of Muslims. A notion that does not have any strong footings, we have to be realistic and act rationally. The country of Osamas origin had severed all ends with him and never supported him. But we not only provided him with a hiding place in our country but also earned notoriety after his killing. Our government should issue policy statement as to why the terrorist head was in Pakistan.
