karachi - Awami National Party has withdrawn its candidates from Sindh in favour of Pakistan People’s Party while party will only participate in polls from Karachi and Hyderabad.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, ANP Sindh Chief and Senator Shahi Syed announced the party decision. Shahi said that the Paktoon Action Committee (Loya Jirga) after consulting with the leadership came on this decision. He added that through a nefarious plan progressive forces are trying to stop all ways of liberal segments of Pakistan, adding that it is need of the hour that liberal political forces should get united to encounter these elements.

Shahi further added that party will carry on its coalition with PPP. Regarding withdrawal of candidates in PPP’s favour, he said it was the journey to strengthen the democracy, eliminating extremism and establishing peace in Sindh. “We have directed the ANP leaders and workers to coordinate with the PPP leaders of Sindh to avail victory during the election.”

He said that ANP had always played its role for the rights of the Sindh and continue doing so in future.
