LAHORE - The assistant professors of Punjab University Law College Samee Ozair, Shahbaz Cheema and others have withdrawn their Intra Court Appeal filed against the decision of Lahore High Court challenging the appointment of Law College Principal Dr Shazia Qureshi as Associate Professor.
Earlier, LHC Justice Ayesha A Malik had dismissed writ petition against PU Law College’s Selection Board of Associate Professor on being found no any discrimination or any irregularity committed by the PU administration.
University Law College’s Assistant Professors Samee Ozair, Nawaz Dogar, Iftikhar Ahmed Tarrar and Shahbaz Ahmed Cheema had filed a writ petition in LHC against the selection board submitting that Dr Shazia Qureshi was being promoted to Associate Professor upon which the court had granted a stay against Selection Board.
Punjab University’s legal advisor Shahzad Shaukat and Dr Shazia’s personal counsel Mr Awais Khalid Advocate argued that Iftikhar Tarrar and Nawaz Dogar had submitted application for the seat of Associate Professor, advertised in 2007, but he could not meet the eligibility criteria as the research papers were not published in HEC recognized journals. They argued that the both assistant professors were informed about their ineligibility and they had already filed a writ petition in Lahore High Court challenging this decision but they did not inform the court about their previous writ petition.
