Islamabad: The Sessions Court today granted a last chance to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, to submit reply in defamation suit and compensation claim by former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, until May 16.
Sessions Court Judge Tanvir Meer was hearing the defamation case filed by former chief justice of Pakistan, against PTI chairman. Assistant of Khan’s counsel Babar Awan, Khawar Ali Meer filed a plea in the court, stating that the Sessions Court is not authorized to hold hearing of any compensation claim, which is more than Rs 20 crore.
He expressed resentment over the plaintiff’s counsel for not submitting court dues of the case. However, ex-CJP’s counsel Sheikh Ahsanuddin said that the defense counsel is repeatedly filing pleas regarding court’s jurisdiction, whereas the court has already given verdict over the issue.
Plaintiff’s counsel Taufeeq Asif said that PTI chairman is not interested in submitting reply in the case. The court ordered Imran Khan to submit reply till May 16.
