LAHORE - German Ambassador Dr Cyrill Nunn called on Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, on Friday and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, promotion of bilateral relations, enhancing cooperation in energy and other sectors.

The chief minister shed light on brotherly ties between Pakistan and Germany and trade partnership between the two countries and expressed desire to benefit from the German expertise in energy sector.

“The PML-N is making serious efforts to end shortage of electricity. The German consultant has shown excellent performance with regard to solar project. He said that besides paying special attention to generation of electricity from alternative sources, it has also been decided to set up projects of 3,600 megawatt electricity from gas,” the CM maintained.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the cooperation of German companies in energy sector would be welcomed.

He said a number of projects of power generation would be operational by 2017-18.

German Ambassador said that Germany wants to promote its relations with Pakistan and steps will be taken for promotion of cooperation with Punjab government in energy and other sectors.
