In Pakistan, specially in Karachi, there is a great shortage of local animal shelters which is very disheartening. Local pet shelters are extremely essential as they not only look after homeless pets but also are an important source of relaying information about spaying and neutering. Mostly people in our society do not have much awareness about spaying and neutering their pets and because of this, we see abandoned kittens and puppies everywhere.

Government should establish low-cost spaying and neutering programs and local pet shelters at least in major areas of the city. This will be very facilitating to people who love keeping pets but can not approach private shelters because of their distance and limited numbers.
