ISLAMABAD - The Upper House of the Parliament has started pre-budget preparations and the research wing of Senate Secretariat has submitted the latest data about Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) including allocations and releases.

Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani has directed the secretariat to provide information and foresight into the budget process, says a statement issued by the Senate Secretariat on Friday.

The complete documents entailing the summary and details of PSDP allocations and releases, a comparative analysis on the role of the Upper House in the budget process and the budget calendar 2015-16 have been circulated to all members of the Senate so that they can prepare their recommendations.

Data obtained from Economic Affairs Division and Planning Commission of Pakistan pertains to all divisions and ministries of the federal government. International best practices from the Upper Houses of Japan, Australia, US, Germany and Mexico are also provided along with the statistical facts to give them an overview of how upper houses in the world are contributing in the budget process.
