LAHORE - A group of over 100 students and faculty members of FC College Lahore visited the Corps Headquarters Lahore on Friday.

During the tour, they were briefed on the state of operational readiness of Army in defending the national frontiers, according to a press release. Commander Lahore Corps Lieutenant General Naweed Zaman welcomed the students, saying the youth are the hope and future of our country.

The senior army officer said the sacrifices rendered by Pak Army in the fight against anti-state forces are aimed at securing a brighter future for younger generations. He also urged the students to fully concentrate on their academic pursuits.

The students appreciated the army high command for introducing such an educative program specifically for the youth to know their army even more intimately and applauded the dedicated services rendered by Pak Army in weeding out terrorism from the country.

The programme – A Day Out with Army - has been specifically introduced throughout the Army garrisons on instructions of Chief of Army Staff to acquaint students from different colleges and universities on routine functioning of Pakistan Army and its operational preparedness.

The objective is also to instill even greater sense of patriotism, confidence and dedication  towards the country in our youth.

The day-long itinerary included wreath laying ceremony and dua at Yadgar-e-Shuhada. It was followed by a demonstration of combat capability of troops, visit to infantry and armour battalion, arms and equipment display including small arms fire.

The programme culminated at Ganda Singh Wala check post at Pak-India border near Kasur. The students witnessed flag-lowering ceremony and were enthralled by the smart turn out and immaculate drills by troops of Pakistan Rangers amidst highly charged crowd on both sides of the border.

They evinced keen interest and demonstrated great enthusiasm through out the visit as it was a life time opportunity and experience provided to them. They also applauded the state of morale, commitment and professional competence of Pak Army.
