LAHORE - Mutehda Muhaz Usatza (United Teachers’ Front) staged a protest demonstration on Friday in favour of their demands outside Punjab Assembly.

Dozens of teachers participated in the protest, led by Mutehda Muhaz Usatza  Central President Hafiz Ghulam Muhayudin. The protesters, belonging to different districts of the province, were carrying placards and banners and chanted slogans in favour of their demands. They also blocked the traffic at Faisal Chowk, which troubled motorists and caused traffic jam on The Mall.

A teacher got fainted during the protest and was taken by rescuers to nearby hospital for treatment.

Talking to journalists, Mutehda Muhaz Usatza Vice President Shiekh Ahmad demanded the government to release the teachers, being punished in PACK exams.

He also stressed that teachers must be given scale according to their qualifications like other provinces of the country, adding that the civil bureaucracy must be stopped for giving control of schools to non-governmental organisations. He threatened to continue with the protest .
