Wheat bags-laden truck burnt to ashes

HAFIZABAD
More than 85 bags of wheat, 150 empty gunny bags and a truck worth millions of rupees was reduced to ashes when the vehicle touched an overhead 1100 KV electric transmission line near village Wachhoki on Friday.
However, driver saved his life by jumping out of the truck.
According to rescue source, Liaqat Ali driver of truck No. LR-9388 was taking 85 bags of wheat (over 200 munds) and 150 empty gunny bags to Sheikhupura. When he reached near Wachhoki village, the vehicle toughed with an overhead 1100 KV high voltage transmission line accidentally. As a result the truck caught fire and the fire engulfed the whole truck in no time.
The Rescue-1122 rushed to the spot and the personnel made strenuous efforts to extinguish the fire but by that time the wheat stock, gunny bags and truck were burnt.
EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP: As many as 59 brilliant and poor students of Govt Degree College for Boys Hafizabad were awarded cheque of Rs4,500 each as educational scholarship by the Chairman District Zakaat and Ushr Committee Rana Muhammad Saleem Shakir and former Federal Parliamentary Secretary Ch Afzal Hussain Tarar at a simple ceremony held in the college on Friday. They said that the present government was taking revolutionary steps to provide opportunities to the hapless students for their better education.
