Court hears PIMS rape accused bail plea tomorrow

Islamabad - A local court will Tuesday (tomorrow) resume the hearing of bail plea of Krishan Kumar, male nurse at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, who is accused of raping a 20-year-old disabled girl.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Faizan Haider Gillani will conduct the hearing of bail application moved by the accused through his counsel Muhammad Naeem Khan Advocate.

He adopted in his petition that medical board, in its report, has not confirmed rape with the victim girl. The petitioner also pointed that no sign of torture or resistance was found on the girl’s body. Therefore, he requested the court to release him on bail.

In his bail plea, he also told the court that on March 20, he had accepted Islam and his Islamic name is Muhammad Kabir. He further added that he had contracted marriage with a Muslim girl according to the Islamic rituals.

In April, Kumar was taken into custody from Haripur after it was alleged that he had raped a 22-year-old under-treatment disabled girl, lying on the bed of surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, the police said.

Karachi Company police have booked him under section 376 PPC and registered an FIR No 114 with the police station.

The victim girl (N), a resident of Topi tehsil of district Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had been under treatment at the PIMS for the past two months, said the hospital administration. She was initially treated at the Neurology Department of the hospital and for the last two months she was admitted to the surgical ICU of the hospital.

The hospital administration said that the father of the victim, who is a complainant in the case, has alleged that on-duty male nurse Krishan Kumar raped her daughter when nobody was around.
