SIALKOT-An inquiry revealed that the police and even Special Branch officials remained unaware of his corner meeting with the Christian community at village Kanjrur-Shakargarh tehsil last Sunday.

Soon after his address, accused Abid Hussain had fired a bullet on the interior minister as the bullet hit his right arm and belly. The police claimed that the host of the meeting Gulfam Maseeh did not inform the Shah Gharib police about the meeting due to which even the officials of Special Branch remained unaware.

Police claimed that when the police officials came to know the meeting, the meeting had started and the speakers were addressing it in presence of the interior minister who was sitting on the stage.

Police officials further claimed that all the meeting participants were sitting on the chairs at the venue due to which it was not possible to check all of them. Security lapses provided a chance for the accused who remained unchecked and attacked the interior minister.

However, Inspector General of Police Punjab Arif Nawaz has already ordered a strict departmental probe against the police officials.

The police have arrested Gulfam Maseeh, the host of the said corner meeting, for not informing the local police about the meeting.
