LAHORE - Punjab Agriculture Department has advised cotton growers to start picking cotton late in the morning after ensuring that dew on cotton leaves has properly dried out.

A spokesman of the department said on Thursday that farmers should pick cotton from fully open pods.

“There should be a gap of 15-20 days in picking of cotton”, stated the guideline.

All types of cotton should be placed separately, and cotton collection should not cross a limit of 100 maunds. The spokesman warned the farmers not to use polypropylene sacks, adding that phutti should not be placed in wet place.
