Devolution paves way for fair edu rights: Khokar

ISLAMABAD – Advisor to Prime Minister on Human Rights, Mustafa Nawaz Khokar on Thursday said 18 Amendment has paved way for indiscriminatory rights of education and fair trail for all.
In a meeting with Special Envoy of Sweden for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Ambassador Niclas Trove, he said the government has taken solid steps for improving the human right situation in the country.
The Advisor said, “the 18th Amendment is a hallmark for ensuring the fundamental rights of the people”.
The Advisor informed that in near future Child Rights Bill will be tabled in National Assembly that will include the legislation on internal trafficking of children, increasing the age of criminal liability from seven to favorably 13 years and the child pornography.  He further added that bill for establishing National Commission on Child Rights is also under consideration.
The Advisor said that the government has the huge responsibility to ensure smooth transition of power to the interim government.
To accomplish this task, Mustafa Nawaz said, the government is with all the political parties including opposition.
Additionally, he reiterated that it is the first time that Political Parties Act has been extended to FATA and the government will ensure the equal participation of all political parties in floating political campaigns in FATA.
While responding to a question the Advisor mentioned that to ensure a peaceful and free and fair election in Pakistan the government is in consultation with all the stakeholders and the fact is evident by the nomination of Chief Election Commissioner.  
He apprised the Ambassador that the presence of reliable data of voters will also contribute in making the upcoming elections free and fair.
In response to a question the Advisor said that the present democratically elected government altough, believes in the right of voting of women all over Pakistan yet the female turnover is low in certain areas due to cultural barriers.
The Advisor said Pakistan always prefers to develop and maintain cordial relations with Afghanistan and urged that democracy in Pakistan and Afghanistan is the key for developing relationships with each other.
