SIALKOT - Federal Minister for National Regulation and Services Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan stressed the need for following the teachings of Allama Muhammad Iqbal (RA) to fight the challenges faced with the nation.
“The teachings of Allama Iqbal are no doubt the beacon of light for the nation in the current circumstances,” she said. She added Allama Iqbal stressed the need for unity of the Muslim Ummah and raised a voice in favour of economic equality. She said it would not be illogical to state that Iqbal’s saying “Utho Meri Dunya Ke Gharibown Ko Jaga Do” is not just poetry but a call to create an economic system free from deprivation, injustice and inequality.
The federal minister said that Allama Iqbal was a visionary leader and thinker who is born in centuries. “It was the great person who for the first time gave an idea of the creation of a new Islamic state in the Subcontinent. She added that Allama Iqbal is counted among those intellectuals who changed the course of time and history.
She said at a time when the Muslims of Sub-continent were facing unfavorable socio-economic and political conditions and needed a visionary leader, Allama Iqbal rekindled a new hope in them through his great poetry and thoughts. “Let us resolve on the birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal to move on the path of progress and integrity of our dear country,” she said.
Dr Firdous said the PPP was the champion of Iqbal’s thinking, philosophy and ideals.
“Our government is striving to run and develop the country in accordance with the dreams of Allama Iqbal, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Zulfiqar Ali and Benazir Bhutto, she added.
