KARACHI-Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) held a protest demonstration against the recently passed controversial Sindh Local Government Ordinance.
PML-N leaders including Saleem Zia, Zain Ansari, Kheal Das Kohistani, Haji Shafi Jamote lead a large number of protesters to the press club and chanted slogans against the controversial law.Saleem Zia and Zain Ansari said that their party had decided to launch a campaign against the ‘anti-Sindh law’, which was a conspiracy to divide the province.They said that PML-N will continue its struggle on streets and will also adopt legal actions against the dual-administrative system of local government, one for urban and other for rural Sindh.They said that the committee in its meeting on November 10 will announce the schedule of protest demonstrations and sit-ins all over the province.They informed that the PML-N will also formulate an alternative proposal for local government system against one passed by the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Mutahida Quami Movement (MQM) that bulldozed the opinion the people in the province.They blamed that PPP betrayed the people of Sindh and the Malir District, which was gift of the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, was not revived in its original form besides devolution of 43 provincial departments to the local governments in a violation of the constitution.Haji Shafi Jamote said that the agriculture lands and their old villages surrounding the city were also being demolished under the garb of the development and rural areas of the city remained deprived of water.
