KARACHI - National Accountability Board Sindh is turning the screw tight on the government officers of higher grade with an aim to control rampant corruption in government departments.It has decided to compile personal data of the officers of Sindh government from grade-16 and above. The government officers have been issued with complex bio data form in which the officers have been asked to provide details of their service record and period, salaries drawn from time to time, any other income and tax paid by them, the sources told The Nation.The Prevention and Awareness wing of NAB Sindh, through a letter to the general administration department of Sindh, has sought details/bio data of officers working in the government departments.Sources in the NAB confirmed that the Prevention and Awareness Wing of the accountability organisation was already in process of taking steps, through summoning the details of the officers’ services record, their income and other businesses, against the corruption.The General Administration and Coordination Department of the provincial government has forwarded the letter of the NAB to the additional chief secretaries, administrative secretaries, senior member of Board of Revenue, Inspector General of Sindh Police, all commissioners and deputy commissioners, seeking the bio-data of the government officers from grade-16 and above.According to the letter, the NAB Karachi is in process of designing a data-base of all government officers of grade-16 and above grade, whether permanent, contract or project based posted in Sindh both provincial and federal government, including public sector organisations and banks in public as well as private sector as required under section 27 and 33c of NAB Ordinance 1999.Through this letter, the NAB Karachi has urged the Sindh government to nominate an officer with BPS-19 for coordination with the NAB in this regard.In the first portion of the two page form, the details of date and place of birth, temporary and permanent residential addresses have been sought.The second portion of the form contain the details of date of joining of service, places and duration of postings as well as any criminal record of any officers, have also been sought.The third portion of the bio-data form, the officers have been asked to mention their family and siblings, while details of foreign visits, whether it was official or private, have been sought by the NAB Sindh.Through the letter, the NAB has also sought details of officers’ affiliation/membership of any club.The sixth portion of the bio-data form contains the details of the government officers’ salaries as well as if other income earned during the last financial year. The accountability organisation has also sought the detail of expenses of utility/phone charges as well as their children’ education expenditures.In another portion of bio-data form, the NAB has asked the government officers to mention their property including immoveable assets (agriculture land, houses property, industries and open plots), besides details of the moveable assets have also been sought.Besides, the details of the bank accounts including year of opening mode of bank accounts and balance amount have also been sought from the government officers.In the last portion of the bio-data, the government officers have been asked to fill the details of taxes including income tax, wealth tax or any other tax liable to them paid during 2010-11 and 2011-12.The NAB has clearly warned that in case of non-compliance or non declaration of information, the law will take its course against those who failed in submitting the information.
