SARGODHA - The University of Sargodha (UoS) with the financial collaboration of Higher Education Commission has navigated the path of agricultural research towards new horizons.
UoS Vice Chancellor Dr Mohammad Akram Chaudhary remarked while addressing a ceremony regarding distribution of citrus (Kinno) plants among the farmers here.
The VC said that College of Agriculture UOS had achieved a landmark goal by producing standardized and disease-free Kinno nursery which was certified by the Federal Seed certification Islamabad. He said that enthusiastic efforts of College’s agriculture experts for preparing this nursery were commendable.
Akram Chaudhry informed the audience that the UoS was also working on another projects of knowledge based economy. The University College of Agriculture will provide 60,000 plants at nominal rates over the next two years.
The Project Investigator Dr Rashid Mukhtr Bilal informed that primarily rate of each plant had been fixed at Rs60.The distribution of kino plants was appreciated by the farmers of the region and termed the University efforts as an agricultural revolution.
Meanwhile, Two UoS athletes won Gold and Silver medals in Punjab National Youth Festival 2012 held at Punjab Sports Stadium Lahore. Tanweer Abbas clinched Gold medal in 100 meter race and became the fastest athlete at the festival, while Zafare Hayat won silver medal in 400 meter race.
