RAWALPINDI - Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf has said, they want to bring changes in domestic cricket structure and for this purpose the board hired highly qualified foreign coach Dav Whatmore.

Zaka Ashraf expressed these views in an exclusive talk with TheNation on Thursday at the Army cricket ground, where he was present to witness Pakistan and British Army teams last Twenty20 match.

Zaka Ashraf said: “We want to utilise Whatmore services in best possible way who has the vast and unmatched experience of training at grassroot level players and worked with different youth teams of some of the top cricket nations.

“We also want to appoint highly-qualified national coaches in all the regions and would analyse the progress of these coaches through videos and these will be shown to Whatmore to seek his opinion to improve their techniques”, Zaka added.

“Cricket has changed a lot and we have no other option but to make drastic changes in our domestic structure to compete other nations in future,” Zaka claimed.

There would be no compromise on quality and only those players would be selected those perform on the pitch, he said.

Replying to a query about the appointment of batting coach, Zaka said: “We would soon form a committee to finalise the name for the batting coach, but let me assure one thing, who ever get the nod, would be highly qualified and proves beneficial for Pakistan team”, Zaka concluded.
