The destiny of nations is judged by the rulers. We say it is a democracy but I believe that our rulers are not elected by the people but some of them come through rigging and buying the poor people who are mostly illiterate’s votes. Imran Khan is still crying out against rigging in the general polls; there is of course no smoke without fire.
The dilemma is so vast that I don’t know where to begin, but we live in a country that is the strangest country in the world! While the rest of the world tried to progress we regressed! Who is to blame and why this happened is a long story but behold and see that we live in a land where 8000 sit on death row but no execution has taken place. In Karachi, where hundreds of criminals are apprehended daily, in ‘Targeted Operations’ only a few are apprehended and put to justice.
We live in a state which cannot register all the vehicles on the roads? They cannot control pollution emitting from these vehicles as there are no fitness certificates required. Our state fails to collect taxes from the very rich but the poor are taxed diligently. Which can’t stop energy pilferage, going on openly and throughout the country and most of the criminals are large government organizations.
We live in a state which promotes land grabbing and is a partner in crime! Shame on us that we live in a state where we can’t run the state owned vital assets such as Pak Steel, PIA and Pak Railways and have ruined them and now plan to sell them! A state which can’t claim and protect its waters! A state which can’t get rid of more than two million illegal immigrants who are playing havoc in the country.
A state whose tribal areas natives are crying for declaring their areas as settled areas and for extension of apex courts jurisdictions and they are being denied this for years! A country which can neither declare its heroes nor villains nor can it celebrate its Eid’s on the same day as the rest of the world.
We live in a country which can forgive and write off loans worth millions for the rich but grab the poor man who defaults on any small payment. A state which has a police and judiciary which is a slave to the rich, were the law is bought and sold and criminals are given protocol! Ours’ is a state which was created by Muslims for Islam to be practiced but where the so-called Islamists couldn’t prescribe a valid definition for a Muslim so far!
This is a state where a Mosque, Church not even a Temple is safe! A country that cannot overcome a small bug like Dengue! Only Allah can rescue this ‘ship’, cruising with 180 million Pakistanis and in water miles deep. We can only beseech Allah to save us from the evil within us. Lets raise our hands in prayer He does not destroy us as he did with previous evil people of Lot and Noah!
