LAHORE - PPP’central Punjab President Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo yesterday held government responsible for the factory collapse and the resultant loss of precious human lives, saying the government showed negligence in inspection of dilapidated buildings.

He said this while talking to reporters as he visited Sunder Das Industrial Estate yesterday night. He also extended his heartfelt condolences to bereaved families on the loss of lives.

He was accompanied by party’s General Secretary Tanvir Ashraf Kaira.

While condemning the government for its laxity before the building collapse, Wattoo saluted the personnel of Rescue 1122, Fire brigade, Army, Bahria Town and district administration that had been spending days and nights to find out the missing persons under the debris.

He added that if the government had earlier inspected the buildings in the Estate the precious lives could have been saved. He pointed out that the government was responsible to ensure the safety and security of life and property of the citizens and the Punjab government had failed miserably on both accounts.
