ISLAMABAD: The 18th meeting of the Standing Committee on Railways was held on Wednesday here at parliament under the chairmanship of Syed Naveed Qamar.

The committee was briefed about the trains accidents occurred during the last three years. It was also informed that 50pc of the accidents were caused due to unmanned level crossing and unauthorised railways crossing.

The Railways Ministry also presented a provisional report on the recent accidents in Karachi. The ministry informed that the matter is under investigation and a final report will be submitted to the committee before the next meeting.

The committee heard the views on issue of Royal Palm Golf and Country Club from the ministry and representatives of the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club.

The committee directed the ministry to provide complete details of advertisement for inviting the bidders for leasing the mentioned land, the procedure adopted for short listing of the bidders, and terms and conditions of lease agreement along with other relevant materials as the ministry may deem fit to the committee before the next meeting.
