LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority has set up a dedicated demolition squad for instant action against construction of illegal buildings.

The squad will carry out operations under the supervision of Chief Town Planner from tomorrow (Thursday) and undertake field visits for identifying violations of building regulations.

Besides relevant officers of the Town Planning Wing and Police, the squad will comprise demolitions inspectors, encroachment staff, gang men and will have all necessary machinery and equipment at its disposal.

Meanwhile, the LDA staff demolished as many as nine buildings at different locations violation of building bylaws besides sealing another one.

The LDA staff partially demolished two building on plot No34 Tipu block, New Garden Town and plot No8 block A New Muslim Town, removed and sealed internal wall of structure on plot No122 Abu Bakar block New Garden Town and sealed building on plot No31 Shadman.

During operations on Defense Road, the LDA staff demolished newly constructed shops in Muhafiz Town, Phase -2 and demolished roof slab, boundary wall and partition walls of this structure.–Staff Reporter

The staff also razed under constructions foundations along with frame structures and newly constructed shops with recently installed shutter gates opposite to DHA Rahbar. Shuttering for construction of ground floor roof slab of a commercial hall was demolished near Kahna Flyover.

Construction without approval of house at Theh-Punjju village, Defence Road was stopped by removing shuttering manually. Illegal subdivision of residential plot no. 240-A in Venus Housing scheme was also demolished.
