ISLAMABAD: Founder Chairman Pak-US Business Council, veteran trade leader and Chairman United Business Group Iftikhar Ali Malik felicitated Donald Trump on Wednesday for his electoral victory.

In his statement issued here, Iftikhar Ali Malik said that it is new era and we hope that newly elected president of USA will play a leading role in issues such as boosting the economy, solving climate change and improving relations with the developing countries especially Pakistan, acknowledge and appreciate Pakistan's sincere efforts and colossal sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

He said that Trump would follow this American principle that a person did not have to be of a certain religion or have a particular ethnic background to be an American patriot by giving Muslims the honour of serving America. He further said that the US must make clear its enduring commitment to Pakistan’s stability and economic growth to achieve real progress and this is only possible if America plays its role to solve the issue of Kashmir.

He added that no durable progress is possible until peace restored in South Asia. Expressing his concern over US tilt towards India, he said that the relationship between Pakistan and United States as imbalanced and there is dire need to mend the fences between Pakistan and America. He said that US has an agreement with India on civil nuclear cooperation, but refuses to offer Pakistan a similar deal, casting doubt on Pakistan’s utility for the US at a time when major combat operations have winded down in Afghanistan.
