Paying tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed the need for following the philosophy  of the Poet of the East. In his message on the 140th birthday of Iqbal, the CM said: “Allama Iqbal was a great philosopher, poet and a scholar whose poetry and philosophical thoughts guide us even today. Iqbal awakened the Muslims of Subcontinent and reinvigorated them to pursue the goal of Pakistan. His idea for a separate homeland for the Muslims was proof of his political acumen. Allama Iqbal infused a revolutionary spirit in the youth and shed light on Islamic teachings.” His message read: “It is the need of the hour to promote a justifiable socio-economic system by following the poetry and sayings of the Poet of the East. Our lives would be transformed and Pakistan will emerge as a tolerant and a welfare state by following the philosophy of Iqbal and it is the best way to pay tributes to him. “Iqbal has addressed the whole humanity by rising above the territorial limitations as he was of the view that concepts of justice, Islamic spirit, self respect and humanity are the guarantors of development of the Muslims. Iqbal gave a positive thought to the youth and his philosophy is a milestone for them who can bring change in the country by following his path.” –Staff Reporter

The CM called for reiterating commitment to follow the philosophy of Iqbal to make the county prosperous. “We should also make a commitment to achieve the real destination of the country.”


Also, Punjab CM Shehbaz condoled the death of former minister Akbar Lassi. In his condolence message, the Chief Minister has extended sympathies to the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace. He also shared sympathies with the bereaved family of Maulana Hakeem Amjad Hassan.
