Islamabad High Court (IHC) Judge Justice Amir Farooq on Friday remarked that it seems after watching experts’ analysis on news channels that the amount of freedom that is allowed in this country, cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

He said this while hearing a case pertaining to formation of law against cyber crime at Islamabad High Court. The applicant during the hearing prayed the court to allow formation of a law against cyber crime, while keeping in view freedom of speech.

Deputy Attorney General Arshad Kayani while arguing in the court said everything should not be allowed in the name of freedom of speech. With great power comes great responsibility, he added.

The IHC judge remarked that social media has shown that everyone has been practicing their right to express. However, freedom of speech doesn’t mean that one is allowed to use abusive language against institutions and damage their reputation.

Islamabad High Court while ordering notices to minister of law and justice and information technology adjourned the case for three weeks.
