Weekly price reviews

No sooner had the new week arrived than the government raised petrol prices as well as that of CNG; petrol price is up by Rs 3.04 per litre and CNG by Rs 2.78 per kg. The impact of weekly raises in fact is becoming the source of inflationary spirals on a weekly basis; for instance, with this latest news, the prices of food products have also registered a simultaneous increase.
Sadly, it appears the opposition parties are now thinking it convenient to stay silent rather than mustering up stamina to clamour about this injustice. Earlier, it was a biannual or at most a monthly affair that has been reduced to seven days, a practice that the economy cannot bear indefinitely. As reported in a section of press, the public is being subjected to great economic pressure; while the oil dealers and hoarders are making extra profits from frequent fluctuations, there happens to be certain oil companies that are reportedly charging higher rates than those sanctioned by the government, which is quite outrageous given how the inflationary spiral is already swirling. There is also the callousness of the federal setup since it is charging the levy far beyond the limit than it should under the harrowing circumstances.
