LAHORE - PML-Q senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Pervaiz Elahi has alleged that “criminal silence and indifferent attitude” of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over martyrdom of Pakistani civilians due to Indian aggression on working boundary and Control Line was quite deplorable.

India should not be in any misgiving due to this attitude of Nawaz Sharif as entire nation was united and unanimous over security and defence of Pakistan, he said.

He stated this while addressing a Press conference alongwith Sunni Ittehad Council Chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Nasir Sheerazi of Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen and Ch Fayyaz Warraich of Pakistan Awami Tehrik at the residence of former District Nazim Rana Zahid Tauseef in Faisalabad. Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that India was resorting to aggression for the last four days but Nawaz Sharif had not uttered even a single word so far, even he was the Prime Minister for limited days though but still he should have spoken something over the martyrdom of his citizens.

He further stated that during our tenure every sector including industries was rising and progressing, factories in Faisalabad were working day and night and earning precious foreign exchange through more and more exports, today our industries and business were shut, electricity and gas not available but bills for the utilities had been increased manifold.

He said that our govt had completed a number of public welfare projects in Faisalabad including cardiology hospital, engineering university, Garments City, Industrial Estate but Shahbaz Sharif had still not made the university functional so far, funds of Rs 6 billion meant for Faisalabad Ring Road had been dumped in jangla bus.

About 100 kilometers of water channels were updated and we established Rescue 1122 which helped the people along with the Pak Army in floods, earthquake or another natural calamity. Responding to one question, he said that only Rana Sanaullah was left for Faisalabad as they had no concern for the problems of the people, entire Punjab was being ignored.

Ch Pervaiz Elahi offered "Fateha" for the martyrs of Control Line and those who had lost their lives in 2005 earthquake and current floods and also led the "Dua" for the success of public meeting being held in Faisalabad on October 12.

Meeting of the office-bearers held at the residence of Rana Zahid Tauseef was attended by Ch Zaheeruddin Khan, Amir Sultan Cheema, Qamar Hayat Kathia, Ch Khalid Nabi, Ch Ali Akhtar, Rai Abdul Qadir, Rana Asif Tauseef, Rana Zahid, Asad Riaz Baloch, Shahid Sipra, Malik Shakeel Sikandar and Zahra Naseem among host of other party leaders.

They expressed gratitude to Turkish organisation Khuhaib Foundation for providing help to the flood-affected people.

In reply to a question about mid-term elections, Ch Shujaat Hussain said nothing could be said as yet, it would be known shortly whether circumstances were heading towards mid-term or short-term.

He said "qurbani" has started, now and something would essentially happen because awareness was being created among the people.

He said that the govt by increasing electricity bills on the asking of IMF was committing high-handedness on the people.

He said so far cheques given as assistance to the 2010 flood affected people had not yet been encashed while women were being pushed around in the banks.

Pervaiz Elahi said that increase in the electricity bills was beyond the power of tolerance of the people and they were protesting on the roads as wrong policies of the govt and indifferent attitude towards people's problems, country's loans had increased manifold.

Qadri tells lie on LoC firing condemnation: Pervaiz

APP adds: Minister for Information Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid Wednesday said Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri told a lie and misguided the nation that the government had not allegedly condemned firing at the Line of Control (LoC) by Indian forces. He said Advisor to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz as well as the Foreign Office issued condemnatory statements on unprovoked firing from the Indian side.

"The government realizes its responsibilities and better knows as to how to respond while relecting sentiments of the people of Pakistan," the Minister said in a statement. He said any religious leader from abroad could not teach lessons of patriotism. He said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in his address to the United National General Assembly, had presented the case of Kashmiris right to self-determination in a very effective manner and as per nation's aspirations.

Referring to the criticism of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief  over the government regarding drone attacks, Pervaiz Rashid said instead of levelling allegations, Imran Khan should go to the United States (US) and stage protests there. "Why does Imran Khan not protest against those drone attacks which the terrorists do in the form of suicide bombings in the country?" he asked.

He said Imran Khan lost his courage and bravey in front of the terrorists. "Those who are harming the national economy through their negative politics are also Pakistan's enemies," he added.

The Chinese President could not visit Pakistan due to the sit-ins of Imran Khan and Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri, he said and added Imran had damaged the country's image due to his negative attitude.
