Islamabad - Bhara Kahu police have arrested six thieves and recovered five computers, a laptop, weapons and other stolen valuables from their possession, a police spokesman said yesterday.

He said that a special team was constituted by SP (City) Ahmed Iqbal to trace those involved in theft incidents which nabbed three thieves. They have been identified as Ibrar, Shehzad and Umair alias Umeri, besides recovering five computers, one laptop, an LCD, a 12-bore rifle, a 30-bore pistol and ammunition from them.

During the preliminary investigation, the accused confessed to strike at various places in Islamabad and Rawalpindi including Dhoke Jilani and Dhoke Mohri. Police have obtained physical remand of these nabbed thieves from the relevant court and are hopeful of more recovery from them. Meanwhile, a police team apprehended three other thieves Ameen, Mumtaz and Ghulam for their alleged involvement in theft of forest wood.

Separately, Motorway police have started live transmission of FM-95 Radio Station from Islamabad for creating awareness about Road Safety among masses. The basic purpose of FM-95 is to create awareness about road safety and educate masses about traffic rules. The live transmission of FM-95 provides information about weather updates, road works and diversion on highways and motorways, accidents and another road situation which help the commuters to plan their journey accordingly, said the motorway police. Besides this, different informative programs are also going on air from FM-95 in which experts from relevant fields are invited.

In the first phase, the live transmission of FM-95 can be listened around Islamabad and Rawalpindi. In the second phase, it will be extended to 16 major cities of Pakistan. Subsequently, the whole country will be connected.
