Dearth of respect

Respect has become a rare entity nowadays. It is high time that we study the examples set by the Prophet, and learn from his mannerisms. Once, a non-muslim came to the Prophet, and despite the difference in religious sentiments, the Prophet treated him with the same amount of respect as he did to his fellow muslims.

Insulting one another has become common practice; it can be seen on the road, and even on talk shows. People who casually disrespect one another are oblivious to the fact that they might be causing great agony and harm to the other person. The majority of us are selective in giving respect, specially if we interact with people below our class or status.

I want to make the people aware that respect should not be selective; it is for everyone despite social or religious differences.
