Terror bid thwarted as two Qaeda, TTP affiliates nicked

SARGODHA-The police yesterday claimed to have nicked two suspected Al-Qaeda and TTP linked terrorists, plotting “imminent attacks” on Muharram processions and seized suicide jackets, huge quantity of explosives and arms from their possession.
Sharing details with the media persons here on Saturday, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Zulfiqar Hameed accompanied by Sargodha DPO Capt (r) Sohail Ch revealed that on a tip-off, the Anti-Organised Crime Cell of the police carried out an operation in nearby village 53/NB in the remit of Jhal Chakkian Police. The lawmen arrested two terrorists identified as Usman alias Muavia, a local resident and Qari Ejaz, resident of Talagang from a house.
The RPO informed that the raiding team seized two suicide jackets, five hand grenade, 37 explosive balls, seven Kalashnikovs and 695 bullets. He claimed that both the terrorists are affiliated with Al-Qaeda and TTP, adding that they had got terrorism training at Wana in South Waziristan and are experts in making suicide jackets. He revealed that the accused were plotting terror attacks on Ashura processions in Punjab. “The police have avert major terror bid by acting timely as the terrorists were ready to leave their hideout for attacks on targets,” the RPO elaborated.
The suspects have been shifted to undisclosed location for further interrogation.
