ISLAMABAD - President Dr Arif Alvi conferred Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) upon Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force Lt Gen Enzo Vecciarelli here on Monday.
Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, senior military and civil officers also attended the ceremony. Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force Lt Gen Enzo Vecciarelli also called on the President Dr Arif Alvi after the ceremony.
On this occasion, the President underlined that both countries enjoyed commonality of views on a host of regional and global issues and continue to work closely on all issues of common interest.
The President underscored that Pakistan was keen to enhance cooperation in defence training and institutional collaboration between the two countries. He also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment in eradicating extremism and terrorism from its soil.
Lt Gen Enzo Vecciarelli thanked the President, government and people of Pakistan and hoped that bilateral relations between both the countries would continue to grow in the future.
Meanwhile, Lt Gen Enzo Vecciarelli visited Air Headquarters in Islamabad on Monday. A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Air Force presented him the guard of honour. Italian Air Chief paid homage to the martyrs of PAF by laying floral wreath on Martyrs’ Monument.
During the meeting with Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, the Italian Air Chief appreciated the sound professionalism and high morale of PAF personnel.
