Sharjeel century helps Sindh knock Southern Punjab out of National T20

With the outstanding performance of Sharjeel Khan, Sindh have defeated Southern Punjab by 45 runs here at Gaddafi Stadium in the 24th match of the National T20 Cup.

With this loss, Southern Punjab became the first side to be knocked out of the tournament as they only have four points in nine matches while Sindh claimed the number one position on the points table.

Sindh scored 196/7 with Sharjeel Khan’s outstanding batting knock as he scored his fourth century in T20 cricket. He scored 101 off 56 balls, powered by 13 fours and four sixes. The other notable batter was Saud Shakeel, scoring 26 off 19 balls.

Sindh’s captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, who was named in T20 World Cup squad today, only scored 13 off 12. Anwar Ali played a 17 run cameo at the backend.

All Southern Punjab bowlers went for over eight runs per over. Naseem Shah and Mohammad Imran bagged two wickets each while skipper Aamer Yamin and Zia-ul-Haq took a wicket each.

Rumman Raees’ hat-trick was the highlight in the second innings. He dismissed Hassan Khan, Aamer Yamin, Naseem Shah in the 17th over.

Anwar Ali, Zahid Mehmood, and Danish Aziz bagged two wickets each while Rumman finished with figures of 3/23.

Tayyab Tahir was the notable score for SP, scoring 32 off 23 while Mohammad Imran, Yamin, Agha Salman scored in the mid-20s.

Sharjeel emerged player of the match for his brilliant century.
