QUETTA/PESHAWAR - Eight oil tankers carrying fuel for NATO forces deployed in Afghanistan were destroyed in an attack in outskirt of provincial capital in the jurisdiction of Shalkot Police Station on Tuesday. According to police sources, unidentified masked motorcyclists resorted to indiscriminate firing on oil tankers and later on torched an oil tanker. Fire engulfed eight other oil tankers. Consequently, three oil tankers were badly destroyed while five others were partially damaged. The assailants escaped from the site after committing crime. Meanwhile, three drivers of Nato oil tankers got injured in an attack of militants in Tor Baba area of Darra Adam Khel on Tuesday. Police sources said that the containers were plying towards Afghanistan when the militants attacked them in the jurisdiction of Bana Police Station. The firing resulted injuries to all of the three drivers who were identified as Akhlaq Ahmad, Asif and Abdul Ghaffar. All of them were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital. Police registered an FIR and started investigation. So far no one has claimed the responsibility for the attack, however the involvement of Taliban is suspected. Recently, the government claimed that Jamrud and Bara regions of Khyber Agency had been cleared of the militants. However, the network of militants is still intact in narrow tribal strip of Darra Adam Khel.
