Federal Cabinet is likely to approve the new National Education Policy in its meeting to be held today. The cabinet meeting would be held in Prime Minister Secretariat with PM Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in chair. Discussion on the new education policy, the law and order situation, the sugar crisis and security for ministers were on top of the meetings agenda. The cabinet would also be briefed on wheat stock, its procurement and releases by the authorities. It is pertinent to mention that PM Gilani had also called a meeting of all the chief ministers to discuss the new education policy. Speaking to a ceremony on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said the four chief ministers have been summoned to the federal capital to discuss the education policy on Wednesday. Education is a provincial government subject and the federal government desired to take on board all the four chief ministers to come up with a comprehensive policy that meets the requirements of modern times, he was quoted as saying.
