I recently called the Federal Public Service Commission office to inquire about the results of the written test for the post of assistant director, Anti-Narcotics Force. Every time I called, the person on the other end told me to dial some other telephone extensions. Instead of helping me out, I was made a rolling stone. Finally, I was told by a person that the FPSC did not disclose results on the telephone. When I told him that I live in an area where the service of the Pakistan Post is not reliable, the person on the other end said “we are not authorised to access the data”, and then hung up. I and thousands of other candidates who appeared in the written examinations for the above-mentioned post are waiting for the results. Every candidate pays the commission all the service charges regarding the postage and processing. But such a cold behaviour of public servants in the FPSC is very strange. A person who pays all the required expenses is told by public servants that they had posted registered mails to the successful candidates and unregistered mails to the unsuccessful candidates and that the commission was not responsible if a candidate did not receive the mail. I request the chairman of the FPSC to post the names and marks obtained by the candidates who appeared in the written examinations for the post of assistant director, ANF, on the commission’s website so that candidates can know about the outcome of the test. By doing this, the FPSC can also gain the trust of the candidates and also save money even on the unregistered postage in the future.MUHAMMAD IQBAL, Sahiwal, September 8.
