KARACHI - Pakistan Customs Drug Enforcement Cell Karachi seized 1-kg fine quality heroin concealed in the suitcase and footwear of a Ukrainian drug trafficker at Karachi Airport, here on Saturday.

According to details, Customs DEC staff posted at the International Departure Hall of Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, on suspicion intercepted an outgoing passenger, identified as Makbul Khan, a Pak-born Ukrainian traveling to Donetsk (Ukraine) via Dubai from Karachi.  As the passenger could not reply satisfactorily to Customs questioning, his baggage comprising a trolley suitcase was thoroughly examined which led to the recovery of 700 grams fine quality heroin which was cleverly concealed in false cavities and metallic frame of the suitcase.

Subsequently, customs staff also examined the passenger’s footwear and found another 300 grams heroin which the carrier has concealed in shoes’ cavities under innersoles.

Consequent upon recovery and seizure of contraband narcotics, the accused passenger has been arrested and a prosecution case under Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 1997 has been registered against him. During initial investigations it has been learnt that the arrested passenger Makbul Khan was a medical doctor by profession.
