LAHORE – Two more fake phone calls about the presence of a bomb in PIA flights operating between Lahore-Karachi were received to airlines authorities on Saturday, the third consecutive day this has been happening, an officer of the national flag carrier told this scribe.
He said both the calls were received from cell phone number 0335-4805044 at the PIA Karachi Office. A spokesman of the airlines said Pk-306 operating between Karachi-Lahore was ready for departure at the Karachi Airport when a call was received that there was a bomb in the plane.
On receiving the call, airline authorities offloaded the passengers and shifted the plane to an isolated bay for search. A PIA officer said the flight was supposed to depart at 7:00pm, but it was not cleared until around 10:00pm.
Similarly, flight Pk-303 was supposed to take off for Karachi from Lahore’s Airport at 11:00am, but someone called the PIA Karachi Call Centre from the same mobile and informed about the presence of a bomb in the plane. After that, the plane was passed through the same procedure as Pk-306 and was cleared for flight at 3:30pm.
